Half-Time Report: Celtic being held at Kilmarnock

Celtic fail to find a first-half breakthrough in their Scottish Premiership match at Kilmarnock, who they have already beaten 5-2 and 4-0 in the league this season.

Celtic could not find a breakthrough in the first half of their Scottish Premiership match with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park this evening.

Three more wins will secure the Bhoys their third consecutive title, but they have been made to work hard by Allan Johnston's side so far.

Anthony Stokes had found the net within the first 60 seconds, only to see his effort ruled out for offside.

The visitors continued their early pressure as January signing Leigh Griffiths and Kris Commons each saw shots saved by Killie goalkeeper Craig Samson in the opening quarter of an hour.

Adam Matthews was a constant threat down the Celtic right and, on one of his many ventures forward, he crossed towards the near post, where Lee Ashcroft nearly turned the ball into his own net.

Neil Lennon's side's best opportunity came just before the interval as they hit Kilmarnock on the break, but Stefan Johansen was denied by Manuel Pascali's smart tackle as he drove towards the box.

Celtic have already beaten Killie, who are eighth in the table, 5-2 and 4-0 in the league this season.
