Ten-man Sampdoria stun Juventus in Turin

Mauro Icardi scores twice in the second half to lead 10-man Sampdoria to a 2-1 comeback victory over Juventus in Turin.

Ten-man Sampdoria have come from a goal down to defeat Italian champions Juventus 2-1 away from home in Serie A.

The Bianconeri had the better of the opening exchanges, with Sebastian Giovinco coming close with a shot after being set up by Simone Padoin.

The Italian forward had another chance just minutes later, but saw his attempt from close range parried away by Sergio Romero.

Giovinco eventually found the target in the 24th minute from the penalty spot after Gaetano Berardi brought down Claudio Marchisio inside the Sampdoria penalty area.

The visitors thought that they had equalised just five minutes later when Éder Citadin Martins squeezed his shot into the Juve goal, but it was ruled out for a foul on Gianluigi Buffon.

Things went from bad to worse for Sampdoria just after the half-hour mark when Berardi was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

However, the Genoa club restored parity in the 54th minute when Nenad Krsticic released Mauro Icardi down the right and he shot home with a half-volley.

That increased the confidence of 10-man Sampdoria, who scored their second goal of the afternoon with 20 minutes left on the clock.

Pedro Mba Obiang sent Icardi through on goal and the 19-year-old fired in from an acute angle.

Juventus were unlucky not to equalise in the 73rd minute when Mirko Vucinic's shot from close range rattled the Sampdoria crossbar.
