Juventus begin Serie A season with narrow win over Fiorentina

Juventus have begun their Serie A season with a 2-1 win over Fiorentina in Saturday's clash at the Juventus Arena.

The first concrete chance of the game fell to the hosts, with Sami Khedira blasting narrowly over the bar in the fifth minute.

Khedira was more successful shortly before the end of the first half, the Germany international nodding home Giorgio Chiellini's lofted cross.

The visitors then were able to drag themselves level in the 70th minute when Nikola Kalinic outjumped the Juve defence from a set piece and nodded into the bottom left corner of the net.

However, the final word would go to the Bianconeri, as new signing Gonzalo Higuain drilled home from close range after a rebound fell kindly into his path.
