Alessandro Del Piero spends night in hospital

Alessandro Del Piero will spend the night in hospital after the Juventus forward was kicked in the head during his side's 2-0 win against Cesena on Sunday.

The 37-year-old required eight stitches in his left temple after he challenged for the ball with opposition defender Marco Rossi just eight minutes after coming off the substitutes bench.

"He never lost consciousness and the wound was sewn up at the stadium with eight stitches," read a club statement. "Our captain will however be taken to hospital for the normal controls."

The Old Lady moved two points clear at the top of Serie A with the win.
