Conte backs Milan's Seedorf appointment

Juventus boss Antonio Conte has backed newly-appointed AC Milan coach Clarence Seedorf to prove a success at San Siro.

The former Netherlands international was named as Massimiliano Allegri's successor earlier this week, after the 46-year-old parted company with the Italian giants on Monday.

Seedorf won both the UEFA Champions League and the Serie A title on two occasions throughout his 10-year stint with Milan, and Conte believes that the 37-year-old will prove equally as successful in a coaching capacity as he was during his playing days.

He told reporters: "The choice of Clarence Seedorf is a strong one by Milan. Seedorf is a champion who has won a lot during his career and he knows Milan's environment perfectly.

"It's true that he doesn't have any experience as a coach, but knowing Clarence as an opponent - both as a player and as a coach - I think he can have all that is needed to become a great coach."

The ex-Real Madrid and Inter Milan midfielder will kick-start his new career for the visit of Hellas Verona on Sunday.
