Fabio Borini is delighted with Italy's progression to the European Under-21 Championship final.

Italy Under-21 international Fabio Borini has insisted that "it means everything" for him to reach the European Under-21 Championship final.

Borini netted the winner late in the second half against the Netherlands to put his side into the final against Spain on Tuesday night.

"It means everything - the past, the present, the future," Sky Sports News quotes Borini as saying. "All the group is absolutely amazing because it was very hard to play against Holland in the first half. We came out really well in the second half to be compact and scored the goal.

"I was waiting for this tournament since the beginning of the season. I have been preparing for this since I had my shoulder injury.

"To score the semi-final goal that takes us through to the final is very important for me."

Spain beat Norway 3-0 earlier in the day.
