Andrea Bertolacci leaves Italy squad due to injury

AC Milan midfielder Andrea Bertolacci leaves the Italy squad after suffering an injury during the team's 1-0 win over Malta in Euro 2016 qualifying.

AC Milan midfielder Andrea Bertolacci has left the Italy squad due to injury.

The 24-year-old was forced off during the Azzurri's 1-0 win over Malta in Euro 2016 qualifying last night.

Bertolacci's departure means that he will not be available for Sunday's clash with Bulgaria.

"Andrea Bertolacci left the training camp at Coverciano early this afternoon," the FIGC said in a statement. "The Milan midfielder suffered an injury during the match against Malta yesterday, and having undergone ritual tests will return to his club for the appropriate evaluation."

Bertolacci has won three caps for Italy since last year.
