Barzagli to retire after Euro 2016

Juventus and Italy defender Andrea Barzagli has revealed that he will retire from international duty after the European Championships next summer.

The 34-year-old, who made his debut for the four-time World Cup winners in November 2004, has earned 52 caps for his country.

After helping Italy qualify for Euro 2016 over their last two games, however, the central defender has said that he is ready to step aside after featuring in one more major tournament.

"I'll leave the Azzurri after the Euros. It's right to give the younger players a chance," Barzagli told Sky Sports News.

Barzagli was part of the Italy squad that won the World Cup in 2006 and finished as runners-up at the last European Championships.
