Radja Nainggolan set for Cagliari return?

Inter Milan midfielder Radja Nainggolan has reportedly turned down a potential move to China in favour of a return to former club Cagliari.

The Belgian spent five seasons at Cagliari between 2009 and 2014 before moving to Roma, where he enjoyed the best form of his career, scoring 33 goals from midfield in 203 appearances.

However, Nainggolan has been considered surplus to requirements by new Inter boss Antonio Conte and is open to offers from Chinese Super League clubs Shanghai Shenhua and Dalian Yifang.

According to Tuttosport, the midfielder could opt for a return to Cagliari instead but would have to accept a significant drop in his current salary of £4m a year.

A potential deal has been rendered more viable by midfielder Nicolo Barella's decision to leave the Sardinia club to join Inter this summer.

Sardinia is also the birthplace of Nainggolan's wife, who recently revealed she had cancer.
