Inter dominated possession for long periods of the first half, but chances proved to be rare as both sets of defenders kept their opponents at bay.

Thomas Heurtaux twice tried his luck from distance, with both efforts flying over the crossbar to the relief of Samir Handanovic in the Inter goal.

Despite controlling the ball for the majority of the game, Inter could have been behind when Bruno Fernandes unleashed a shot from the edge of the box, but Handanovic managed to get a hand on the ball before seeing his defenders block Badu's effort from the rebound.
