Scunthorpe sign Hull defender Townsend

Hull City left-back Conor Townsend has signed for Scunthorpe United on a month-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old moves to Glanford Park to provide cover for Marcus Williams, who sustained a back injury in the midweek defeat against Barnsley.

Indeed, Townsend has been drafted straight into Scunthorpe's starting lineup for the League One encounter with Yeovil Town this afternoon.

Townsend is yet to make a first-team appearance at Hull, but has had loan stints at Carlisle United, Chesterfield, Grimsby Town and Scottish Premiership outfit Dundee United.

Scunthorpe are currently 17th in the League One table.
