Andre Marriner to referee FA Cup semi-final after red card blunder

Marriner to referee FA Cup semi-final

The Football Association have announced that Andre Marriner has been appointed referee for the FA Cup semi-final between Hull City and Sheffield United at Wembley on April 13.

The 43-year-old came under fire when he sent off Kieran Gibbs by mistake following a handball offence from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain during Arsenal's 6-0 defeat to Chelsea on March 22.

Despite his blunder, Marriner will take charge of the crucial clash, while Michael Oliver will officiate the other semi-final between Wigan Athletic and Arsenal on April 12.

The final will be played at Wembley on May 17.
