Jermaine Beckford heads home a cross from Simon Church to give Huddersfield Town a half-time lead at Barnsley.

A powerful header from prolific striker Jermaine Beckford has handed Huddersfield Town a half-time lead at Barnsley.

Beckford headed home an incisive cross from new signing Simon Church after 36 minutes to give Simon Grayson's side the advantage at the interval.

Barnsley responded well and nearly drew level when Tomasz Cywka saw a powerful effort tipped over by Alex Smithies.

Sean Scannell and Lee Novak threatened for Huddersfield in the closing stages but they have to settle for a one-goal lead at the break.
