Timo Werner snatches late draw for Stuttgart at Hoffenheim

Visitors Stuttgart are able to snatch a late draw away at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, thanks to a last-minute leveller from Timo Werner.

Timo Werner's last-minute goal earned visitors Stuttgart a memorable 2-2 comeback draw with hosts Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga this afternoon.

The home side should have taken the lead in the opening minutes of the game, only for Ermin Bicakcic to see his close-range effort cannon back off the left post after a headed flick-on from Eduardo Vargas.

Stuttgart failed to produce much in the way of chances in the first period, but Martin Harnik should have done a lot better when he fired wide from inside the area having collected a pass from Werner.

Hoffenheim grew in dominance and they grabbed a lead before the interval when Pirmin Schwegler was brought down by Toni Sunjic inside the area, leaving Kevin Volland to step up and convert the penalty.

The hosts should have pushed further in front early in the second half, but Jonathan Schmid missed a gilt-edged chance.

Stuttgart made them pay instantly, as Jan Kliment was able to keep his cool to find a way past Oliver Baumann to give the visitors a route back into the match.

Hoffenheim were not to be outdone by their opponents, though, and they soon went straight back in front thanks to Volland, who sealed a brace to give his side a 2-1 lead.

It appeared as though the hosts would hold on for all three points, but they were undone during injury time as Werner stole in to snatch a dramatic draw for Stuttgart.
