Preview: Go Ahead Eagles vs. Heracles - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Eredivisie clash between Go Ahead Eagles and Heracles, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Looking to pick up a third consecutive league victory, Heracles visit De Adelaarshorst on Saturday to face off against Go Ahead Eagles.

Meanwhile, the home side are seeking to end a three-game winless run which has seen them slip into the bottom half of the standings off the back of a fine start to the season.

Match preview

Heracles emerged victorious for the third home game running following a 3-2 victory over Willem II at the Erve Asito two Saturdays ago.

Goals from Rai Vloet and Delano Burgzorg saw Frank Wormuth's men race to a two-goal lead which was later wiped out thanks to Mats Kohlert and Max Svensson, only for Ismail Azzaoui to decide the game in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

The Heraclieden have now risen to 11th place in the Eredivisie table and would move into the top half should they manage to claim all three points this weekend.

Standing in their way is an opposing side who have suffered defeat in each of the last six meetings between the teams dating back to 2014.

Saturday's visitors narrowly edged out the hosts 1-0 in the most recent encounter back in July when Bilal Basacikoglu's first-half effort proved to be the difference.

Go Ahead Eagles ended a run of two straight losses with a 1-1 stalemate against RKC Waalwijk at the Mandemakers Stadion a fortnight ago.

After going ahead through Inigo Cordoba fifteen minutes into the contest, an Alexander Buttner penalty right on the hour mark denied Joseph Oosting's men a much-needed victory.

The pride of the IJssel Kowet played out a friendly 2-2 draw versus Belgian outfit Lommel SK last Thursday and are in search of a first win in five outings this weekend.

Saturday's hosts, who have amassed six of their seven points on home turf, now seek to get their season back on track with another impressive performance on their own patch.

Team News

Mohamed Amissi remains out with a back injury which forced him to sit out the visitors' last involvement before the international break.

Heracles will also have to make do with the absence of Kasper Jakobsen who has not featured in any of the last six matches due to a knee injury.

Having come off the bench to net a late winner last time out, Ismail Azzaoui could be rewarded with a place in the starting XI this time around.

Scottish midfielder Frank Ross still awaits his first appearance of the new campaign due to a knee injury he picked up back in January.

Thirty-seven-year-old Jacob Mulenga is not expected to play any part for the home side this weekend as he is currently sidelined with a muscle injury.

Go Ahead Eagles possible starting lineup:
Hahn; Kuipers, Kramer, Idzen, Lucassen; Brouwers, Botos, Rommens; Cordoba, Oratmangoen, Cardona

Heracles possible starting lineup:
Blaswich; Quagliata, Knoester, Rente, Fadiga; De La Torre, Schoofs, Vloet; Basacikoglu, Burgzorg, Sierhuis

We say: Go Ahead Eagles 1-2 Heracles

Heracles seem to have turned a corner in recent weeks following a rough start to the campaign and will fancy themselves to come away with all three points in this one. We are tipping them to edge out their hosts, albeit by a narrow margin, at the sound of the full-time whistle.
