Preview: Zhejiang Professional vs. Shandong Taishan - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Chinese Super League clash between Zhejiang Professional and Shandong Taishan, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Shandong Taishan visit the Yellow Dragon Stadium on Saturday to lock horns with Zhejiang Professional in matchday six of the 2022 Chinese Super League season.

Both sides were victorious in their respective last outings and will be looking to pick up where they left off with another three points this weekend.

Match preview

Shandong Taishan eased past Dalian Pro in a routine 3-0 victory at the Wuyuan River Stadium on Tuesday to make it maximum points from their last three matches.

Off the back of a drab opening 45 minutes, second-half goals from Marouane Fellaini, Moises and Qi Tianyu got the job done for Hao Wei's men.

As a result, the Team of Mount Tai have moved up to third place in the standings and now sit just one point adrift of the current leaders.

Next up is the task of facing off against an opposing side who have lost each of the last four meetings between the teams by a combined score of 9-2.

Having ended a six-game winless streak on the road with a 1-0 victory in their last away outing, Saturday's visitors now go in search of back to back triumphs away from home for the first time since December.

Zhejiang Professional came out on top in a thrilling 4-2 contest against Guangzhou City in Monday's encounter at the Yuexiushan Stadium.

Jordi Vinyals's men stormed to a four-goal lead thanks to strikes from Franko Andrijasevic, Jin Cheng and Donova Ewolo before Gong Zhang and Li Tixiang struck in the second half to half the advantage.

The Green Giants occupy 13th place as it stands and now aim to continue their surge up the league table now that they have finally picked up their first win of the campaign.

Unbeaten in each of their most recent four games on home turf, Saturday's hosts will back themselves to secure another positive result in front of their supporters.

Team News

Coming off a two-goal haul against Guangzhou, Zhejiang's Franko Andrijasevic will head into this weekend's game with the wind in his sails.

Jiaqi Zhang is expected to retain his starting berth after returning to action in the aforementioned game following a one-game suspension.

Marouane Fellaini and Qi Tianyu could be rewarded with places in the XI for this one having come off the bench to good effect for Shandong last time out.

Thirty-four-year-old Moises has now scored three times in his last two matches and is on course to surpass his best-ever tally of four goals in the top tier of Chinese football.

Zhejiang Professional possible starting lineup:
Zhao; Yue, Leung, Sun, Gao; Zhang, Andrijasevic, Gu; Ewolo, Chenge, Mushekwi

Shandong Taishan possible starting lineup:
Wang; Song, Shi, Jadson, Wang; Son, Moises, Jin; Liu, Chen, Crysan

We say: Zhejiang Professional 1-2 Shandong Taishan

The visitors are firing on all cylinders coming into this one, so it is hard to envisage any other outcome than a victory for them, and while we expect the hosts to put up a good fight, we fancy Shandong to come away with all three points.
