Manager Martin Canning admits it will take more than dressing room talk to convince him that his Hamilton side have recovered from their Hibernian hiding.
Accies lost 6-0 at Easter Road in the Ladbrokes Premiership before the international break and are preparing to host Steven Gerrard’s Rangers on Sunday.
Canning had a subsequent meeting with his squad but is looking for action to back up the words.
He said: “I had a meeting when we came back in the following week and we discussed it. It was not acceptable.
“The players knew themselves and we had a pretty frank meeting although it was not a ‘clear the air’ meeting.
“I don’t think there is any crisis, it is just a case of we didn’t perform well and it is done.
“We have always done that pretty well. Good results and bad results are forgotten about and you have to concentrate on the next game.
“But also what I will say is talk is cheap. It is easy to say this and that.
“It is now about making sure the next time you get the opportunity to get back on the pitch you can show it and that’s what we have to see on Sunday.”
Certainly, Canning is pleased with the way his side have responded in training to their heavy defeat.
The former Hamilton defender said: “The atmosphere has been good, they have all put their head down and worked hard as you would expect.
“In this league there are going to be good days and bad days for Hamilton Accies and that was definitely a bad day.
“You can’t do anything about that, you have to deal with the next game up which is Rangers, live on television and a great opportunity to get in and about it.
“Rangers have been good. They are playing well, playing with confidence and done fantastically well in Europe to qualify through to the group stages of the Europa League.
“So we know it is going to be a difficult game. We are playing against a huge club.
“It is something we have done time and again and what we have to do again is go and upset the odds and go and get a result.”
