Greece appoint Ranieri on two-year deal

Greece have appointed former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri as their new national team coach.

Ranieri has been out of work since being sacked as Monaco boss earlier this summer, but after spending almost three decades managing 14 European teams, he has made the move into the national game.

Ranieri, who replaces Fernando Santos, has been handed a two-year deal by the Greece Football Association, who will be hoping that the Italian chief can lead their team to their fourth successive European Championship finals.

Greece recently reached the knockout stages of the World Cup finals in Brazil before being eliminated by Costa Rica in the last 16.
