Getafe ease relegation fears with victory over Deportivo La Coruna

Deportivo's winless streak in La Liga is extended to seven games as they go down 2-1 at Getafe.

Getafe have moved seven points clear of La Liga's relegation zone with a slim 2-1 win over struggling Deportivo La Coruna at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

The Blues took the lead on the 17-minute mark when Alexis scrambled home from eight yards after being adjudged onside when left all alone in the area.

It was 2-0 before half time as Sergio Escudero side-footed into the roof of the net after running on to Pablo Sarabia's pass at the back post.

Depor were given hope of a late fightback 12 minutes from time through Jose Toche, who stabbed home following good work down the left by Isaac Cuenca.

Getafe, who have won four of their last five home games, remain 13th in the table, but are now seven clear of the bottom three. Deportivo are without a win in seven league games and just a point above 18th-placed Almeria.
