Mesut Ozil: 'Germany deserve to be World Cup winners again'

Mesut Ozil believes that Germany "deserve" to win the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil believes that the pressure is on Germany's shoulders to win the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

The former Real Madrid player will be part of the team when the tournament gets underway on June 12.

Germany have reached at least the semi-finals in the last three competitions, but they were last world champions in 1990 after beating Argentina in the final.

"Germany deserve to win a World Cup again," Ozil told Bild. "The entire nation seemingly expects us to win the World Cup.

"We were all still young in 2010 and everybody was surprised that we were that good, but there's plenty of pressure this time around. Everything's different now because we have been playing some great football over the past four years."

Germany will play Portugal, Ghana and the USA in the group phase.
