Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi out of World Cup

Germany coach Joachim Low confirms that Shkodran Mustafi will miss the remainder of the World Cup due to a thigh injury.

Germany coach Joachim Low has confirmed that Shkodran Mustafi will miss the rest of the World Cup with a thigh injury.

The defender had to be stretchered off on Monday during his side's 2-1 win over Algeria in the last 16.

Tests carried out after the match revealed that Mustafi had torn muscle fibres in his left thigh.

"He's not going to play any further part in this World Cup," Low is quoted as saying by FIFA.com.

Germany return to action on Friday when they face France in the quarter-finals.
