Hannes Wolf's Germany U19s finished top of both their first and elite round groups during qualifying, but they will need to turn things around if they are to make the semi-finals.

On Saturday, DFB-Team were beaten 3-0 by Netherlands Under-19s, though the manager may feel that his group were unlucky considering that they forced six saves from goalkeeper Joeri Heerkens and conceded two goals after the 90-minute mark.

Regardless, dropping three points has left Wolf's side at the bottom of the Group B table, one point behind third-placed England and second-placed Norway, and three behind leaders Oranje.

Knowing that victory could completely change the complexion of their tournament at this stage, the nominal hosts will take confidence from the fact that their defeat on matchday one was their only loss across their last nine games, a stretch that includes seven straight wins and one draw going back to October 2024.

Triumph for Germany U19s could be enough to see them climb up to second place, but consecutive defeats would bring a swift and disappointing end to their tournament.

Meanwhile, Will Antwi's England U19s also topped both their original and elite round groups, thanks in no small part to Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri, who netted twice in the first round.

However, in their opening game of the tournament proper, the Three Lions were held to a 2-2 draw by Norway Under-19s, and the boss will be frustrated that it took a late Mikey Moore penalty to rescue a point given that Tom Watson had initially given them the lead with just 11 minutes on the clock.

While that stalemate has England third in the group as things stand, their single point means that they are better-positioned than their opponents to take advantage of any potential slip up from Landslaget in their clash against Netherlands U19s.

This week's nominal visitors need to be wary given that their opponents will be desperate due to the looming threat of elimination from the competition, but having gone 10 games unbeaten leading up to this clash, their proven resilience may be vital.

Three points could be enough to take England U19s to the top of the group depending on goal difference if Oranje fail to win, but defeat could see them drop down to the foot of the table with just one fixture remaining.

Team News

Germany U19s are expected to be without centre-back Elias Decker on Tuesday after he was taken off with an injury at half time against the Netherlands U19s.

In his absence, Leopold Wurm should join Maximilian Herwerth at the heart of Wolf's defence, while full-backs Taylan Bulut and Almugera Raouf Mohammed Kabar patrol the flanks either side of the duo.

As for England U19s, Tom Watson, who netted the opener against Norway U19s on Saturday, will start out wide on the left, with Kadan Young operating on the right.

In the centre of the park, Joshua King and Kiano Dyer will be looking to provide some stability for their team, sitting just in front of centre-halves Harrison Murray-Campbell and Stephen Mfuni.

Up top, Antwi should deploy the strike partnership of Shim Mheuka and Mikey Moore once again, though the manager will be hoping that the captain's contributions will be towards a win rather than a rescue this time around.
