Genclerbirligi vs Kasimpasa - prediction, team news, lineups

Genclerbirligi and Kasimpasa square off on Sunday having both enjoyed strong starts to the new campaign.

These two teams sit in eighth and 10th position in the Super Lig table respectively, losing just once between them.

Match preview

Having finished in 14th position in Turkey's top flight in 2025-26, Genclerbirligi will be delighted with their start to the season.

Starting the campaign with victory over Fenerbahce immediately raised expectations, and that success was followed by a narrow away triumph at Goztepe SK.

Although they were held to a 1-1 draw by Erzurumspor, it extended their unbeaten start, before Trabzonspor cruised to a 5-0 win last time out.

While Metin Diyadin's side have only scored four goals in as many matches, they only sit three points off top spot with games versus Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor out of the way for the foreseeable future.

Kasimpasa are another team who will be more than satisfied with their start to 2026-27, a consequence of finishing in 13th spot last season.

An opening-weekend draw with Trabzonspor set the ball rolling, before they edged past Corum by a 1-0 scoreline in their following fixture.

Further stalemates have since been posted against Istanbul Basaksehir and Amedspor, and Emre Belozoglu's team are just one of two teams - the other being Galatasaray - to remain unbeaten across the first four matches.

Just two teams have conceded fewer goals than Kasimpasa, too, yet their only defeat in seven competitive contests came in last season's corresponding fixture with Genclerbirligi on May 9.

Adrian Benedyczak has netted three of Kasimpasa's four goals, while Claudio Winck has proved two assists.

Team News

Diyadin will inevitably make changes to his Genclerbirligi XI, with Abdurrahim Dursun and Pedro Mendes in line to feature at left-back and in attack respectively.

Rafael Luis may also be brought into the midfield, with Firatcan Uzum, Ogulcan Ulgun and Sekou Koita potentially dropping down to the substitutes' bench.

Andri Fannar Baldursson is expected to miss out for Kasimpasa after he was withdrawn through injury in the second half against Amedspor.

Emirhan Boz is in line to replace him in midfield, but Crystal Palace loanee Jesurun Rak-Sakyi may remain among the replacements.

Genclerbirligi possible starting lineup:

Egribayat; Pereira, Thalisson, Goutas, Dursun; Luis, Diabate, Tongya; Traore, Mendes, Gouveia

Kasimpasa possible starting lineup:

Gianniotis; Winck, Arous, Ilie, Karapo; Demirbay, Boz; Yalcin, Rafferty, Kol; Benedyczak

We say: Genclerbirligi 1-1 Kasimpasa

With Genclerbirligi having suffered such a heavy defeat last time out, it remains to be seen how they will react. Given that Kasimpasa have looked solid at the back, we are predicting a hard-earned draw that arguably suits neither team.
