Half-Time Report: Fabinho penalty puts AS Monaco ahead at Gazelec Ajaccio

Fabinho's penalty gives Monaco a half-time lead away to Gazelec Ajaccio.

Fabinho's first-half penalty has put AS Monaco into the lead against Gazelec Ajaccio and has put them on course to move into top half of Ligue 1.

The Corsicans started brightly with Amos Youga firing narrowly wide with a speculative strike from distance.

Damian Djokovic also squandered a chance on 15 minutes as he reached a cross from Khalid Boutaib, but was unable to beat Danijel Subasic with his header.

However, the visitors were awarded a penalty after David Ducourtioux handled the ball in the area before Fabinho tucked away the spot kick.

Monaco could have added to their lead later in the half as both Ivan Cavaleiro and Bernardo Silva were denied by saves from Clement Maury.

On the stroke of half time, GFC came close to equalising after Kader Mangane skied a chance from a set piece.
