Drogba to "show respect" against Chelsea

Galatasaray forward Didier Drogba has said that Chelsea will always have a special place in his heart and that he will "show respect" if he scores against them in the Champions League.

The Ivorian star, who will line up against his former club in Istanbul on Wednesday night, scored 157 goals for the Blues during eight seasons in London.

Drogba was brought to Stamford Bridge during Jose Mourinho's first spell in charge and he built a strong relationship with the Portuguese manager, who messaged him after Gala were confirmed as Chelsea's opponents in the last 16.

"After the draw Jose texted me to say 'it's your moment, enjoy it'," Drogba told reporters. "People know how much I love the club and the fans.

"I will still be happy to score because I also want to qualify for the next round, but you have to show respect."

He added: "I can't forget what I've done there and all the memories of the club. Chelsea will always have a special place in my heart. And in my life."

Drogba has scored two goals in six Champions League appearances this season.
