Karim Benzema reveals Manchester United pursuit

France striker Karim Benzema has revealed that he has been pursued by Manchester United for the past four years.

The 24-year-old signed for Real Madrid from Lyon in 2009 for around £30m.

"I know Manchester United have tried to sign me for the past three or four seasons," he told The Sun. "When I was at Lyon they and a number of other English clubs wanted me but could not agree terms with Lyon."

Benzema is expected to feature for Les Bleus when they take on England in Monday's Euro 2012 Group D opener in Donetsk.
