Report: Fleetwood Town to earn 25% of Leicester City's Jamie Vardy transfer fee

Fleetwood Town to earn 25% of Vardy fee?

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy could reportedly earn his former side Fleetwood Town 25% of a potential transfer fee, should the striker leave the King Power Stadium.

The 28-year-old - who recently broke Ruud van Nistelrooy's record of goals scored in consecutive matches - is the Premier League's top scorer with 14 goals so far this season, and the England international has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks.

According to the Daily Mail, Vardy has a clause in his contract that means the Cod Army will earn a quarter of any transfer fee over the £1m that Leicester paid to sign the forward in 2012.

The newspaper also suggests that the Foxes are reluctant to see Vardy leave the club, and are willing to extend the Sheffield-born player's existing contract, which is due to expire in 2018.

Vardy has made four international appearances for England.
