Ron Vlaar having medical at Aston Villa

Holland international Ron Vlaar has arrived in Birmingham for a medical ahead of his proposed transfer to Aston Villa.

The centre-back's switch to Villa Park looked to have fallen through earlier this month when the Premier League club refused to match Feyenoord's asking price for their player.

However, the 27-year-old revealed last week that the transfer was back on.

Villa will reportedly part with £3.2m to sign the defender, who was part of the Dutch squad that competed at Euro 2012 earlier this summer.
