Feyenoord beat Utrecht to lift Dutch Cup

Feyenoord have won the KNVB Cup after beating FC Utrecht 2-1 in the final on Sunday night.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side, who have lifted won the Dutch Cup on 12 occasions, took the lead in the 42nd minute when Michiel Kramer headed a Dirk Kuyt cross into the bottom corner from close range.

Utrecht, who were chasing a fourth title, responded early in the second period when Ramon Leeuwin fired home following a scramble inside the box.

Feyenoord regained the lead 15 minutes from time, however, when Utrecht goalkeeper Filip Bednarek could only turn into his own net after attempting to keep out a free kick from Jens Toornstra.

Eljero Elia might have made it more comfortable late on when he drove into the Utrecht box, but the Dutchman fired wide of the post from close range. The miss did not prove crucial, however, as Feyenoord held on in the final moments to lift the trophy once again.
