Raul Meireles banned for 11 matches

Fenerbahce midfielder Raul Meireles has been given an 11-match ban for spitting at a referee.

The incident took place after Meireles was sent off for two bookable offences during his side's 2-1 defeat to Galatasaray on Sunday.

The Portuguese international had denied the charge before the Turkish Football Federation imposed the lengthy suspension.

Meireles joined Fenerbahce from Chelsea over the summer for £8m.
