Wolves agree deal to sign former Juventus midfielder on loan

Premier League giants Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a deal with AFC Southampton over a deal to sign Mario Lemina on loan before the end of the transfer window, according to a report from Soccer Link.

The report states that the proposed loan deal includes an offer to sign the player on a permanent deal next summer, and details about that clause is the lone reason still delaying the signing.

According to the report, Wolves want to include an option which includes a number of games played (30) for the option to be forced into effect, but the report says that they will have to buy him regardless.

All Premier League teams are scrambling to get last-minute deals over the line before the window shuts, and it is never too late to place a bet on Lemina's transfer to Wolves happening using our free football tips guides from the Racing Post.

The Daily Echo revealed last week that fellow Premier League side Everton had enquired about signing Lemina to fill the void in defensive midfielder but instead opted to complete the signing of Jean-Philippe Gbamin from Bundesliga side Mainz 05.

Lemina, who joined Southampton from Juventus back in the summer of 2017, has racked up 52 appearances in all outings for the Saints. Due to his abdominal strain, the Gabonese player was only able to register 21 Premier League appearances for Southampton last season but when fit, he is a real coup to any side.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side will be in the Europa League next season and a player of Lemina's quality and experience would come handy for them.

Having to join Wolves with the reported mandatory purchase clause is a business well done by the West Midlands club, who have already spent a fair amount this transfer window on the signings of Pedro Neto and Patrick Cutrone from Lazio and AC Milan respectively.
