Which team is tipped to win the Premier League this year?

Last year was a crazy year for everyone and it hit football hard. Delays and postponements, empty stadiums, and players with positive Covid tests threw the whole season out of whack. As life begins to slowly return to normal, having football to look forward to is a bright spot. While we all want our favourite club to win the League Cup, only one team will. The Premier League can be fickle and this season may be no different. Betting on football is a great way to stay engaged with the action on the pitch, even if your team has fallen behind in points and is no longer a contender for the title. Betting guides such as the norwegian sports portal; Fotballkanalen.com can be a great way to figure out which sportsbooks offer the best odds and get insight into the teams and the players if you're having trouble deciding where to put your money. There's always a chance for an upset but as things stand at the moment, let's take a look at which teams have the best chances this year.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola led his team to a comfortable win last year and could very well be set to do the same this season. With the same number of losses as runners-up Manchester United, City secured their win by avoiding draws, ending the season with five draws to United's 11. Although Guardiola has admitted that he is concerned that the club will have another slow start this season, they were able to turn last year's slow start into a 28-game winning streak, so there isn't really any cause for concern. With the quality of players that City is able to attract and Guardiola's confident leadership, the chances that they will be able to hold on to the Premier League title are high. But how many other titles could they couple it with?

Liverpool

This past season was particularly hard on Liverpool. They went from a tremendous winning season to a season where they looked like a completely different team. Maybe they were resting on their laurels or maybe it was having their defence decimated by injuries (the highest injury rate in the League). Either way, it was a fall from grace that shook some fans' confidence in Jurgen Klopp's abilities. But the season opener against Norwich City seemed to confirm that the team are back in good form. The goals by stalwarts Bobby Firmino and Mo Salah felt like the 2019 season again, while newcomer Diogo Jota's opening goal suggested that the new blood on the team will be able to mesh with the existing players but still make their presence felt. It could be that this past season was the wake-up call the team needed to get their act together.

Chelsea

Although Chelsea won the Champions League last year, they finished the regular season nearly 20 points behind Manchester City and never really seemed like contenders for the title. That all might change this year – the club's summer spending spree may give them the edge they need to rise to the top of the table. At the moment, a lot of the buzz surrounds the return of Romelu Lukaku. The striker, who was signed for £97.5 million this week, is considered one of the world's best (as well as the most expensive!) and his talent and maturity will be a boon for the Blues. If Thomas Tuchel can maintain the momentum that he started building last year, this could be a very good season for the club.

Leicester City

This year's dark horse is Leicester City. Since their meteoric rise from a third-tier team to the winners of the Premier League in only seven years, Leicester have been a fun team to watch – except for their supporters, who are probably getting a bit tired of the yo-yoing between great and mediocre. After going from Premier League Champions to twelfth overall in a single season, Leicester hovered around the middle of the table for two seasons. Under Brendan Rodgers' leadership, they have worked their way up to fifth for two seasons. Their win against Wolverhampton in the season opener, thanks to Jamie Vardy's stunning goal right before the end of the first half, might be a sign of good things to come. This could be the year that they jump back up to the top of the table. The pundits might all be talking about Manchester City's chances but you never know for sure. One thing that you can definitely feel safe betting on is that we're in for a great season of football this year.
