FC Volendam and Go Ahead Eagles kick off matchday six of the 2022-23 Eredivisie season with a meeting at the Kras Stadion on Friday evening.

Both teams have started the current campaign on a poor note and will be keen to get themselves back on track with all three points in this one.

Go Ahead Eagles were beaten for the fifth straight game following a thrilling 4-3 defeat against Feyenoord at De Adelaarshorst on Saturday.

Rene Hake's men raced to a two-goal lead early on through a Patrik Walemark own goal and Isac Lidberg's strike before a Danilo double levelled matters heading into the break, after which Javairo Dilrosun and Sebastian Szymanski completed the turnaround, rendering Oliver Edvardsen's late effort inconsequential.

One of two teams yet to pick up a point so far, the pride of the IJssel Kowet are bottom but one in the league table, ahead of Fortuna Sittard only on goal difference.

Coming up next is the task of facing off against an opposing outfit who have only come out on top in one of the most recent clashes between the sides.

Calvin Twigt and Oskar Buur remain sidelined with long-term knee problems and are yet to feature in any game for FC Volendam since March.

The hosts will also have to make do with the absence of Josh Flint after the Englishman picked up a muscle injury during pre-season.

Rashaan Fernandes is not eligible to feature for Go Ahead Eagles here as he serves the second of a three-game ban having received his marching orders against Sparta Rotterdam.

Forward Martijn Berden remains out of action with an ulnar fracture and will not play any part for the away side for the sixth consecutive outing.

Thirty-year-old Gerrit Nauber is a major doubt for this one as he is yet to shake off a knee problem which has kept him out since May.
