Marseille survive two sending-offs to claim a 1-1 draw from their trip to Evian.

Marseille claimed a 1-1 draw from their trip to Evian this afternoon despite ending the match with nine men.

Neither side were able to break the deadlock during the opening 45 minutes, with both defences being on top.

However, just five minutes after the restart the visitors were in front. Winger Mathieu Valbuena picked out Andre-Pierre Gignac inside the area and the striker sent the ball into the top right hand corner of the net.

Marseille's lead lasted until the 57th minute, though, in an incident that saw them lose their first player to a red card.

Saber Khelifa was brought down inside the box by Kassim Abdallah, who was subsequently handed his marching orders. A penalty was awarded and Yannick Sagbo stepped up to convert from 12 yards.

The away side then lost another player 15 minutes from time when winger Jordan Ayew was handed his second yellow card, having been on the pitch just two minutes following his introduction as a substitute.

Evian looked the more likely to score a winner in the closing stages, but they were unable to make their numerical advantage count.
