Frank Lampard: 'Brazil World Cup could be my last'

Lampard: 'Brazil WC could be my last'

Frank Lampard has hinted that helping England qualify for Brazil 2014 is an even bigger motivation for him as it may be his last World Cup.

The Chelsea midfielder was in the Three Lions team that beat Montenegro 4-1 on Friday, a win which means that Roy Hodgson's side can guarantee their place at next summer's tournament with victory over Poland this week.

"It is a huge game. For me, for everyone," Lampard told reporters. "Not just the fact it may be my last World Cup, it is the fact there is an England team wanting to get there.

"There is a lot of desire. Me and Stevie (Steven Gerrard) have been here a long time. I don't know, Stevie may have aspirations to carry on in an England shirt but for us it is a huge thing.

"It will be fantastic in Brazil and an England team not being there would be a bad thing. I think it is pushing all of us on."

Lampard has made 101 appearances at international level and has scored 29 times, figures that place him in the top 10 for both caps and goals for England.
