Kane grabs England U21s late winner

Harry Kane came off the bench to score a late winner for England's Under-21s against Lithuania as they continued their unbeaten Euro 2015 qualifying campaign.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker ended an 81-minute deadlock with the only goal of the game as the Young Lions recorded a sixth successive competitive win.

Justinas Janusevskis lashed an early effort over the crossbar for Lithuania before Nathaniel Chalobah, Thomas Ince and James Ward-Prowse all shot wide for England in the first half.

Chalobah, who joined Burnley on loan on transfer deadline day, was forced to clear the ball off the line on 38 minutes, but that was England's last scare as they went on to dominate the second period.

Saido Berahino brought two good saves out of home goalkeeper Tomas Svedkauskas in Kaunas, while pressure mounted on Lithuania when Nathan Redmond had a shot blocked and Ince guided just wide from close range.

They came even closer when Redmond struck the post and, just when it appeared as if Gareth Southgate would have to settle for a frustrating draw, substitute Kane headed home with nine minutes left.

England have already qualified as group winners and finish their campaign against Moldova on Tuesday.
