UEFA have come to an agreement with Europe's leading clubs to stop international friendlies from taking place in August.
The single fixtures have caused problems with domestic clubs due to the timing, which coincides with the start of the majority of league seasons around Europe.
European Club Association chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "The negotiations have not always proved easy, but were always conducted in a fair and respectful manner.
"This is once more a proof that in the European football family solutions can be found in a cooperative and fair way."
World governing body FIFA have yet to sanction the decision. However, future international fixtures are likely to be scheduled with two games in one week over a two-year period as opposed to single friendlies.
