England boss Roy Hodgson: 'France match a very poignant occasion'

Hodgson: 'It was a very poignant occasion'

England manager Roy Hodgson has described his side's international friendly match against France at Wembley Stadium as "a very poignant occasion".

The Three Lions boss took part in a tribute to the victims of last week's terror attack in Paris ahead of kickoff, along with his French counterpart Didier Deschamps and both sets of players.

"It was a very poignant occasion," BBC Sport quotes Hodgson as saying.

"It was really everything I expected it to be. I thought the way the FA and the FFF set up the moments of remembrance was very well done.

"I thought the players getting together after the minute's silence achieved all the things we wanted to achieve."

England won the match 2-0 courtesy of goals from Dele Alli and Wayne Rooney.
