Roy Hodgson eyes England meet-up over winter in preparation for Euro 2016

England boss Roy Hodgson reveals that he wants to meet up with his squad over the winter in preparation for Euro 2016, but accepts that the decision is out of his hands.

England boss Roy Hodgson has outlined his desire to meet up with his squad during the winter to build a rapport ahead of Euro 2016.

The Three Lions secured their place in the tournament by winning all 10 of their qualifying matches and play sparingly over the course of the next few months in friendly matches.

As a result, Hodgson has admitted that he would like to get together with his players to keep track of them ahead of the competition, but he has conceded that the matter could be out of his control.

"It would be nice [to do that]," Hodgson is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "It would not be our decision. Premier League teams own the players and pay them.

"If they are prepared to sacrifice an evening or two to let us have a get together with them and remind them of what we're trying to do and get them to put an England hat on for an afternoon or evening, that would be great.

"If it's not possible, I've accepted it for many years and I'm not staking any claim. If it can be done and the Premier League clubs are willing to accommodate us, then we would be more than happy to do that and we'd be grateful but I'm not prepared to make a fuss about it."

England face Spain in a friendly next week.
