FA "disappointed" with Serbia punishment

The Football Association has said that it is "disappointed" with Serbia's punishment by UEFA for incidents relating to an Under-21 match with England in October.

A number of England players were subjected to racist abuse during and after the Euro 2013 playoff in Krusevac before both teams were involved in a mass brawl.

The Serbian Football Association has been fined £65,000, while four of their players have been suspended.

English duo Steven Caulker and Thomas Ince have also been handed bans.

"We are disappointed with the sanctions levied by UEFA with regards to the racist behaviour displayed towards England's players," FA general secretary Alex Horne told the organisation's official website.

"Let's be clear, racism is unacceptable in any form, and should play no part in football. The scenes were deplorable and we do not believe the sanction sends a strong enough message."

The FA has revealed that it intends to appeal the bans given to Caulker and Ince.
