Sam Allardyce to be named as new England manager?

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce will reportedly be named as the new England manager in the next 24 hours.

The Football Association has reportedly decided to name Sam Allardyce as the new England manager.

Last week, it was claimed that the Sunderland boss had undergone talks regarding the position that became vacant when Roy Hodgson resigned following the Three Lions' dismal showing at Euro 2016.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has also held discussions over the role but according to Sky Sports News, Allardyce will be announced as the new coach in the next 24 hours.

If confirmed, Allardyce will leave Sunderland having kept the club in the Premier League last season, while he has also had spells at Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United.

Earlier on Wednesday, the FA's chief executive Martin Glenn had suggested that the successor to Hodgson was close to being named.
