Joe Cole has stated that he would "love" to play for Team GB in the 2012 Olympics.
The 30-year-old, who last played for England during last year's World Cup, said that he hopes coach Stuart Pearce will consider him for one of the three over-23 places in the squad.
"I would love to play in it," Cole told reporters. "I would be very excited because it is in London. It is in East London, where I started my football career.
"I love the Olympics. I have been trying to get tickets, but it is very, very hard. So, I had better play in it."
The Liverpool player also said that he still hopes to be recalled to the national side for Euro 2012.
"If the call comes, I would be very happy," he added. "I am a proud Englishman. I love playing for my country.
"If it comes, great. If it doesn't, my main focus is to win some trophies for Lille."
Meanwhile, Cole has indicated that he may stay at Lille beyond the end of the season.
