England manager Roy Hodgson refuses to look beyond last 16

Roy Hodgson not looking past last 16

England manager Roy Hodgson has insisted that he is not looking beyond his side's last-16 clash at Euro 2016.

The Three Lions finished second in Group B courtesy of a 0-0 draw with Slovakia last night, giving them a tougher route to the final that also sets them on a collision course with France should both sides make it to the last eight.

Hodgson stressed that he is taking nothing for granted, but admitted that a match against the host nation would be "interesting".

"First of all we need to win in the round of 16. It's not something that, quite frankly, I'll be considering yet," he told reporters.

"I don't count my chickens. Let's get the round-of-16 game played first. But if we do get them, it'll be interesting. I have great respect for the French team.

"I don't think France will play the same way as Russia, Wales and Slovakia. They'll be asking questions of us when they get the ball, and we might be able to show we are quite a good counter-attacking team when teams try and play against us."

England will play one of Hungary, Iceland, Portugal or Austria in the last 16.
