Roy Hodgson says that ideally he would like more than two weeks to sculpt the England team ahead of Euro 2012.

Roy Hodgson has admitted that a fortnight is not long enough to make his mark on the England team.

The 64-year-old was appointed as Fabio Capello's successor at the start of last month, but only properly took charge following West Bromwich Albion's final game of the season.

Hodgson, whose Euro 2012 squad have suffered with injuries, said that the players have responded well to his ideas so far but conceded that it is impossible for him to get them playing how he would like them to.

"As a football coach who's worked year after year, I find it very hard to understand how anyone can remotely imagine that, in two weeks and five training sessions, you could get a team playing the way you'd like them to play," said Hodgson.

"The players have responded well and have an idea of what we're looking for. I think they'll be okay, but you don't model a team in two weeks. It's not possible."

England take on Belgium in their final warm-up game today.
