Dynamo Moscow banned from Europe

Dynamo Moscow have been banned from competing in Europe next season for breaking UEFA Financial Fair Play Regulations.

The club finished fourth in last season's Russian Premier League, which would have earned them a spot in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

"I can't say that we were particularly surprised by UEFA's ruling," Dynamo president Boris Rotenberg told the club's official website.

"Discussion about Financial Fair Play did not start today or yesterday. This is why during the winter, we did not sign one new player, which had an effect on Dynamo's performance in the spring part of the championship."

Despite their ban from Europe, Dynamo have not been handed any financial sanctions or a transfer embargo.
