Good evening and thank you for joining Sports Mole for live text commentary of the Scottish League One meeting between Dunfermline Athletic and Rangers at East End Park.

Rangers had won their first 15 games in the league this season, before being held to a 1-1 draw by Stranraer at Ibrox on Boxing Day. Prior to that draw, they had won 20 games in all competitions and were just one match away from equalling their previous best run.

A victory tonight for the visitors will put them 14 points clear at the top of the table and maintain their 100% winning run on the road this season. They have claimed three points away from home in all seven games they have played and have conceded just three goals in the process.

The two sides met earlier this season at Ibrox, and on that occasion the home side claimed a 3-1 win. Lee McCulloch, Jon Daly and Bilel Mohsni all scored for Rangers, with Josh Falkingham scoring the visitors sole goal. The game was level before Kerr Young saw Red for Dunfermline, but the hosts took full advantage to go on and claim all three points.

Both teams will be were recently drawn against each other in the Scottish Cup fifth round, with the tie taking place at Ibrox on February 7.

Rangers striker Jon Daly is the joint leading goalscorer in the league, alongside Ayr United frontman Michael Moffat, while Ryan Wallace leads the scoring charts for Dunfermline with eight goals.

PREDICTION: Tonight’s game should be Rangers’s toughest test in the league all season considering Dunfermline’s form and position in the table. There were plenty of yellow cards and a sending off the last time they met, so I am expecting a tough battle in midfield. I feel that Rangers have enough quality to get back to winning ways, and see them claiming a 2-1 victory this evening.

Rangers have dominated the possession in the early stages of the game, and we have already seen a couple of strong challenges from the Dunfermline defenders.

Moore has a great chance to break through on goal for the home side, but he is closed down quickly and the opportunity is gone.

CHANCE! Rangers should be ahead! Smith latches onto a loose header, before bursting into the box. He gets it onto his left foot, but with just the keeper to beat, he fires his effort wide of the post.

Rangers look to play in Daly over the top, but Whittle does extremely well to stay with him and manages to clear the danger.

Young is down injured for Dunfermline and is receiving some treatment on the pitch. He will be hoping it's nothing too serious, as he hobbles away to the sidelines.

Williamson does well to get down the right hand side for Dunfermline, but as he tries to reach the byline, he runs out of steam and the move comes to an end.

The home side have another player struggling, with Byrne down after stretching for the ball during a challenge. He has given away a free kick in the process and Rangers have sent a host of players into the box.

The free kick isn't the greatest, and Mohsni tries to keep the move alive, but the hosts manage to clear their lines.

Moore is slid in down the right for the home side and tries his luck from a tight angle, but his effort lacks the required power to trouble Bell, with the keeper making a routine save.

CHANCE! The home side win a corner and Husband meets the ball with a near post flick, but the keeper does well to tip his header over.

CHANCE! Dunfermline are taking the game to Rangers, and Wallace is next to try his luck with a curling effort after cutting in from the left, which is straight at Bell, and the keeper claims.

The hosts play a long free kick into the box from just inside the Rangers half, and Geggan meets it with a powerful header, however his attempt is well wide.

Rangers have taken the lead, and it's a fine goal from Aird. The midfielder picks up the ball on the right, before cutting inside, and drilling a low shot into the bottom corner, past the reach of Scully.

Dunfermline will be disappointed to have conceded, especially after a period of domination, but will have been well aware of the threat their opponents possess.

YELLOW CARD! Falkingham picks up the first booking of the night for a late challenge on Law.

CHANCE! The home side come close as Wallace connects with a cross just inside the box, but his header goes just over the bar.

Rangers seem happy to soak up the pressure and look to set their forward players free whenever they get the chance. As for Dunfermline, the goal has knocked their confidence slightly, but they are looking to put together a number of passes and advance into the final third.

Dunfermline have enjoyed a huge amount of possession, but have rarely been able to get in behind the Rangers defence and trouble the keeper.

Black delivers a free kick into the box that causes trouble for the Dunfermline defenders, but they manage to scramble the ball behind for a corner.

YELLOW CARD! Young picks up a booking for arguing with the referee.

CHANCE! Daly has a great opportunity to score a second for Rangers, but after latching onto a pull back across the box, he sees his close range strike saved by the keeper.

Rangers win a free kick just outside the box in a central position, with Black and Smith standing over the ball.

Smith takes the set piece, but curls his left footed effort over the bar.

We are going to have one minute of stoppage time at the end of the half.

CHANCE! Rangers come close to scoring a second on the stroke of half time as Aird sees his close range effort cleared off the line after the keeper had spilled a long range shot from Clark.

Rangers have the lead at half time in tonight's match, but they haven't had it all their own way. Dunfermline have dominated the possession but have found it hard to seriously trouble the Rangers goal.

Dunfermline had 53% of the ball during the first 45 minutes, but it was Rangers who had more attempts on goal, with eight strikes to the home side's five.

The visitors will feel that they should be two goals up, as Aird saw his shot at the end of the half cleared off the line. They will hope that they are not left ruing that chance at the end of the game.

As things stand, Rangers are 14 points clear at the top of the table. Second place Dunfermline are still firmly in the playoff places, and sit five points clear of Stranraer in third.

From the resulting free kick, around 40 yards from goal, Husband decides to try his luck, but his effort goes a long way over the bar.

Rangers win a corner, and Daly flicks the ball goalwards at the near post. It is heading in, but Clark gets the last touch on the line to put his side two goals ahead.

SUBSTITUTION: Rangers make a change, with MacLeod replacing Smith.

YELLOW CARDS! Aird picks up a booking for Rangers, while Geggan is carded for Dunfermline following an argument between the two.

CHANCE! Clark does brilliantly to latch onto a long ball and keep it in play. He pulls it back to Law, who turns away from his marker, before firing in an effort that is hit straight at the keeper.

Dunfermline have seen far less of the ball this half and are struggling to impose themselves on a Rangers side looking very comfortable after that second goal.

The home side win a corner and it is laid off to Falkingham around 25 yards out from goal, but his low strike goes wide of the post.

Young is played in down the left hand side for Rangers, but with players arriving in the box, he gets far too much on his delivery and puts the ball out of play.

SUBSTITUTION: Rangers make their second change of the evening, with Foster coming on for Clark.

Rangers looked to heave sealed all three points now. Law is played through on goal by MacLeod and slips the ball past the keeper from close range.

The scoreline has been harsh on the home side this evening, but Rangers have been clinical and have made them pay at every opportunity.

SUBSTITUTION: Dunfermline make a change, with Smith coming on for Byrne.

SUBSTITUTION: Rangers make their final change of the evening, as Crawford replaces Black.

CHANCE! Rangers break at pace and the ball is laid off to MacLeod to strike from just outside the box, but his low effort is held by the keeper.

Despite Rangers being 3-0 up and the points looking secured, there are a number of crunching challenges still flying in from both sides.

MacLeod comes forward down the left for Rangers and attempts an ambitious effort from range, but his strike goes high and wide of the goal.

CHANCE! MacLeod has looked like the away side's main threat in recent minutes, and his fierce curling strike from the edge of the area is well beaten away by the keeper.

Dunfermline are still looking for a goal and Moore tries to get on the scoresheet when he cuts in from the left and fires in a low strike, but Bell gets down well to save.

Williamson is down for the home side and is receiving treatment on the pitch. With just a few minutes left to play, his game may be over.

SUBSTITUTION: Dunfermline are forced into the change, as Williamson is stretchered off the pitch, with Spence replacing him.

There are going to be four minutes of stoppage time.

Rangers have scored their fourth goal of the evening, and it's Crawford who gets it. A cross into the box falls kindly to him, and he lashes in a low strike that gives the keeper no chance.

Rangers get back to winning ways with a 4-0 win at Dunfermline. They have extended their lead at the top of the table to 14 points and keep up their unbeaten league run.
