Stevenage manager Graham Westley has heaped praise upon Darius Charles, calling the versatile player 'tremendous' after he scored his side's winning goal in their FA Cup third-round tie against Doncaster Rovers.
The League One side beat Championship side Rovers 3-2 this afternoon, with Charles getting on the scoresheet right at the end.
Westley, speaking to The Hertfordshire Mercury, said: "I'm sure he will have enjoyed the moment. It's been a long road back for Darius. Great to have him. He's a tremendous player. We all know what a miss he has been. In our situation there's no better player to pull on the shirt and get a reaction."
The Boro manager jokingly added: "That 27 minutes of added time was difficult. It was good to see the side face that pressure, to deal with that pressure and come through."
Charles had previously been out for five months due to an ankle ligament injury.
