Steve McClaren warns Derby County against being complacent

Derby County manager Steve McClaren insists that his side can't be complacent ahead of the second leg of the Championship playoff semi-final.

Derby County manager Steve McClaren has urged his players not to become complacent ahead of the second leg of their Championship playoff tie with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Rams put one step in the Wembley final by beating Brighton 2-1 at the Amex Stadium on Thursday night, but McClaren believes that the pressure is still on his side to attack their opponents when the two teams meet again on Sunday.

"We know they have a good record away from home and they made it difficult in the game we played against them," the former England boss told reporters.

"We've got to be on the front foot. We can't sit back and relax like we did in the second half, we've got to take our game to them, get the crowd behind us and the players have to fight to maintain this result.

"This tie's not over, we have to be better on Sunday. It will be a totally different game. The next goal will be crucial and Brighton have nothing to lose."

Derby are looking to return to the Premier League for the first time since the 2007-08 season.
