Half-Time Report: Andreas Weimann, Jacob Butterfield put Derby County in control

Derby hold two-goal lead against Rotherham

Andreas Weimann and Jacob Butterfield have given Derby County a 2-0 advantage at half time in the Championship clash with Rotherham United.

Weimann had been handed a start after an injury to Tom Ince, and it took him just seven minutes to justify his selection, the former Aston Villa man netting from close range after some neat approach play from Jacob Butterfield and Craig Forsyth.

Butterfield came close to doubling Derby's lead with a rasping shot from distance that was saved by former Rams stopper Lee Camp, before Jonson Clarke-Harris forced Scott Carson into some work at the other end.

Just before the midway point of the half, Derby should have been two ahead but Johnny Russell blazed over from inside the area after being set up by Cyrus Christie.

On 31 minutes, it was Bradley Johnson's turn to waste an opportunity as he headed the ball over from Russell's cross, before another Clarke-Harris strike found the target but did not beat Carson.

It appeared as though Rotherham would remain competitive in the match at the break, but just before the half-time whistle, Butterfield sent a long-range strike into the corner.
