Deportivo La Coruna beat their La Liga relegation rivals Real Mallorca to give themselves hopes of survival.

Basement side Deportivo La Coruna earned their first away win of the season to give themselves hope of survival in La Liga after beating Real Mallorca 3-2.

The match started at a frenetic pace with both relegation-threatened sides needing to pick up the precious three points.

It was the home team who took the lead after 19 minutes after Victor's effort was deflected past goalkeeper Aranzubia and into the back of the net.

However, the lead lasted just eight minutes. Silvio danced his way into the penalty area before curling an effort into the bottom corner to score his second goal in as many games.

The half ended with no further goals, both teams enjoying midfield possession but lacking the attacking potency in the final third.

Deportivo came out of the blocks quicker in the second half and took the lead when defender Carlos Marchena reacted first to a free kick and tapped home from close range.

After the Islanders had a goal disallowed for offside, Deportivo scored their third of the game. Dudu Aouate did well to save Pizzi's shot, but the ball fell to Riki, who was on hand to turn the ball into the net.

Mallorca pressed to try to get back into the game and grabbed a controversial goal back as Emilio Nsue scored from a seemingly offside position.

However, it did not matter as the club from La Coruna held out to move within one point of Mallorca and four points from survival.
